Global Research Collaboration & Book

Cities for Her is an international research project exploring how public spaces can better support the everyday lives of girls and young women — and why designing for those often overlooked creates better cities for everyone.
Co-authored by Rebecca Halstead and Danish architect René Kural, the project brings together architects, urban designers, researchers and community voices from across Europe. Through case studies, interviews and on-the-ground research, it examines how design decisions influence safety, participation, independence and belonging in public space.
The research highlights real-world examples of cities, streets, parks and public spaces that successfully support a wider range of users, moving beyond theory to showcase practical approaches that can be applied by architects, planners and decision-makers.
Supported by Danish and international partners, the project will culminate in a publication, exhibition and public programme aimed at advancing the conversation around inclusive urban design.
